Tucked away in semi-rural Staffordshire countryside near Biddulph and the edge of the Peak District, Pigs Bottom Shepherds Hut is a small, characterful retreat for two. It’s a place to slow down, watch the horses in the paddocks, wander quiet lanes and footpaths, and come back to a warm, cosy space that feels like your own little hideaway.

Our story

Pigs Bottom began as a simple idea: a peaceful corner of the farm where friends could escape for a night or two. Over time it became a lovingly crafted shepherds hut, built with natural materials, soft lighting and thoughtful touches—somewhere we’d be proud to stay in ourselves.

Today, it’s a place for riders, walkers and anyone who loves the countryside to reconnect with nature without giving up comfort.

The shepherd’s hut

Thoughtfully designed for two, Pigs Bottom Shepherds Hut blends rustic charm with modern comfort. Wake to birdsong, sip coffee overlooking the paddocks, and unwind by the firepit as the sun sets over the fields.

A gentle circular walk from the hut along quiet lanes and across nearby fields, with views back towards Biddulph Moor. Perfect for stretching your legs before or after dinner.

Follow local footpaths through mixed woodland and along a small brook, with spots to pause and listen to birdsong. Ideal for a relaxed morning or afternoon wander.

Village & viewpoint hike

A longer route taking in a nearby village, a country pub and a higher vantage point with wide views across Staffordshire and towards the Peak District hills on a clear day.

Booking & availability

Most guests book via Airbnb, but you’re welcome to enquire directly for repeat stays, equestrian bookings or special occasions.

Prices vary by season and length of stay. Equestrian facilities are charged separately per horse per night.
